Deacons

They exist to strengthen the body of Christ, and protect the church's mission of Gathering for God's glory, Growing in Christlikeness, and Going in the Holy Spirit.

Qualifications for Deacons

8 Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. 9 They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. 10 And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. 11 Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. 12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. 13 For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.

-1 Timothy 3:8-13

Their work falls into three main areas:

1. Spotting and Meeting Practical Needs: Deacons take care of physical, hands-on, and day-to-day needs. By helping people in practical ways, they make sure everyday hurdles don't slow the church down. Contact us if you or a loved one needs prayer.
2. Protecting Church Unity: When tension, complaints, or arguments pop up, deacons step into the middle of it. They absorb the shock waves, calm things down, and help keep the peace.
3. Supporting the Pastorate: Deacons are trusted helpers to the church leadership. They build with the intention of freeing up pastors to focus on prayer and teaching God's Word.
